An exhibition and printed catalogue about the oral history of design in Finland. Documents from the Design Museum archives will be presented for the first time, including images, audio recordings and interview transcripts.
The exhibition presents the work of Pi Sarpaneva and Maj Kuhlefelt (P&M Design), Eero Rislakki and Pertti Palmroth. Visual samples are presented alongside interviews with the designers recorded during the years 1987–1991. Their personal accounts of the Finnish design industry are discussed in detail on topics such as design education and training, manufacturing in Finland and other insights from their careers. The audio is in Finnish with text excerpts translated into English.
The catalogue includes original transcripts of the recordings and their English translations, portfolio images from the four designers, three new essays from international artists Nina Power, Till Wittwer and Angie Keefer as well as an introduction by the editors Emery Norton and Susanna Thiel.
The whole family is welcome to this event. The event is accessible for all.
