Village Works

Village Works is a space designed for learning and working for an international group of architecture students. The spatial elements and furniture designed for the Village Works also function as an exhibition and support the summer living and working in experimental construction. The industrial elements are modular and can be easily dismantled and reused or recycled. The Village Workshop was designed by Taneli Mansikkamäki, who also leads the summer course taking place in the space. During the course, participants get acquainted with the diverse local environment of Fiskars, its abundant material offerings, and local craftsmanship. The purpose of the Village Workshop is to serve as a multi-year laboratory for construction and design, where the freedom to create and experiment combines with the precise construction of new village spaces that fit the context.
